Start of Construction at the Flawa Site
26.03.2025 | Flawil
The 7,000 m² FLAWA site in Flawil, which is both centrally located and idyllic, was previously used as an industrial area. Now, it is set to be transformed into a residential neighborhood while preserving its industrial heritage.
In 2022, an architectural competition involving five teams selected a winning project by Pfister Klingenfuss Architekten AG. The plan includes a diverse mix of apartments varying in size, layout, and ownership type. By converting part of the existing buildings into loft-style apartments, the site’s history will be carried forward. The range of housing options includes owner-occupied and rental apartments as well as row houses. Notable aspects of the project include the pure timber construction of the row houses, a wide selection of family-friendly apartments, and the resulting social diversity combined with generous outdoor spaces.
After an extended planning phase following the suspension of the partial zoning plan in 2017, construction work is now beginning. The remediation of pollutants has already been completed, and demolition work started in mid-March. Construction is expected to continue until approximately August 2027. The demolition permit is legally binding, and approvals for the partial zoning plan, special use plan, and building permit have all been granted.
HRS is the site developer and will be responsible for both execution and marketing of the owner-occupied apartments on behalf of FLAWA. Sales will begin shortly. Detailed information about the available rental and owner-occupied apartments will soon be published on flawa-areal.ch, where interested parties can already register via the contact form.
