Environmental, economic and social sustainability
The needs of people and the environment are always at the center of our work. As an owner-managed company, social aspects are important to us in addition to economic and ecological sustainability. We plan, build and behave in an environmentally friendly manner and also act with future generations in mind. We give preference to regional planners, suppliers and subcontractors who act according to clear ecological and sustainable criteria.
We conserve resources by performing renovation work
HRS Renovation revitalises existing buildings by refurbishing and modernising them in line with the vision of “preserving the old and integrating the new”. On the one hand, this approach conserves resources as compared to tearing down a building and constructing a new one, while on the other hand it eliminates energy losses caused by outdated insulation and façades. Our use of environmentally friendly materials and our modernisation of building systems make an additional contribution to environmental protection and increase the value of properties as well.
We engage in intelligent concentrated development for the benefit of the environment
Land is a scarce and thus coveted resource in urban centres especially, which is why we focus on concentration that makes economic, environmental and social sense, especially when we develop large sites. Our experts know how to make the best use of space and height and always focus on structures worth preserving – i.e. buildings that can be refurbished. This allows us to optimally and sustainably exploit space potential in each situation and also create profitable free spaces.
We build for future generations
Our experts examine possibilities for using modern and environmentally friendly technologies in every project they implement. Here, they consider everything from Minergie standards to the use of photovoltaic units on roofs and buildings and highly sustainable forms of energy generation (local heat network, district heating, brine transfer pumps, heat recovery, closed-loop systems, etc.).
We are committed to sustainable mobility
We take sustainable mobility considerations into account in both the planning and implementation phases of our construction projects. For example, we only install the necessary minimum number of parking spaces. In addition, we implement measures that promote electric mobility (e.g. installation of charging stations), create vehicle-free sites and construct carbon-neutral buildings. We also contribute to a considerable reduction of CO2 emissions during the construction phase by cooperating with local partners whose employees only need to travel short distances in order to work on our projects.
The Circle – a lighthouse project for sustainability
The Circle at Zurich Airport offers an outstanding example of our approach here. The project has received the highest possible certification (LEED® PLATINUM) in accordance with the Leadership Energy and Environmental Design Standard. Certification here is based on seven criteria: site sustainability, water efficiency, energy and greenhouse gas emissions, materials and natural resources, indoor environmental quality, location and development, and innovation.
