The start of construction of the new sports facilities in Chur not only marks the beginning of the realisation of the "Ice Ball" generation project, but primarily an important milestone for local and regional junior, amateur and professional sports.
The decision to renew the sports facilities in the areas of grass and ice sports on the “Upper Au” was made by the voters of Chur in November 2018 with their clear approval of 81 percent of the gross loan of CHF 43.93 million. The "Iceball" project emerged as the winner in an overall performance competition, which comprises the components of a training ice rink, a sports stadium with a main playing field (natural grass) and four natural grass grounds. In November 2019, the general contractor contract was signed between the city of Chur and HRS Real Estate AG.
