On 7 March 2021, the city of Bern will hold a referendum on the new festival hall. Today, the largely supported committee "Friends of the New Festhalle" presented its arguments at a media conference.

With a Yes to an investment contribution and the planning law foundations, Bern should receive a new venue that, thanks to its maximum capacity of around 9,000 people, will allow cultural events, events, trade fairs and other professional events that are not possible in the capital today due to a lack of infrastructure. This generational project on the BERNEXPO site will provide important impulses for the population, economy, culture, gastronomy and tourism in the city and region of Bern. The festival hall on the BERNEXPO site, built in 1948 as a temporary structure, has reached the end of its life cycle.

HRS is an investor in Messepark Bern AG, which owns the BERNEXPO site: On 28 May 2020, the corresponding contracts were signed with BERNEXPO GROUPE. The four companies HRS, Mobiliar, Visana and Securitas have since held a total of 45 percent of the share capital of Messepark Bern AG.

From Martin and Rebecca Kull's point of view, the site and location are ideal for further development: "The exhibition site has excellent transport links, is centrally located and, with the New Festival Hall, offers a lot of potential for additional uses."
