Campus STRATE J
Delémont
The new Strate J tertiary education campus is home to countless higher education courses in the fields of health, economics, technology and education.
Strate J is located at Delémont railway station, which is an anchor point for the entire canton of Jura and a meeting point between Basel, Biel, Neuchâtel and the French cities of Belfort and Montbéliard. The establishment of the campus strengthens the socio-economic development of the region and brings together around 500 people from various educational backgrounds under one roof.
A flagship for tertiary education
Natural ventilation of rooms thanks to window valves
Before work began, a protective screen was installed over the 200-metre long and 10-metre high SBB tracks. The 35-metre tower was reinforced by a series of wind bracing installations at façade level. In addition, a 100-centimetre slab with integrated pre-tensioning was required to support the total weight of the upper eight floors of the tower. All façades consist of triple-glazed wood-metal windows covering 80 per cent of the area. They are equipped with valves that provide natural ventilation for those rooms. The ceilings of the rooms are untreated and covered with metal that functions as acoustic or heating elements. The building is controlled via KNX, which allows for an energy-efficient interaction of lighting, shading and heating.
