COLLÈGE DU FEY

The Collège du Fey is a textbook example of inter-communal project planning and how a modern school building can be constructed. As with many other communities, Moudon, Lucens and the surrounding area were faced with the challenge of demographic growth combined with a lack of available classrooms. Due to the many associated benefits, the neighbouring local authorities decided on a joint solution when planning and constructing the new school.

Bright, friendly and open

The bright, open Collège du Fey is designed to house 350 to 400 students. The fully glazed façades allow daylight to flood the interior and create a natural atmosphere that is conducive to both teaching and learning. The staircase is covered by a large glass roof that also lets in natural light. The classrooms are spread out like satellites along the eight sides of the building and are easily accessible from the central communal areas. The rooms at the front offer students and teachers alike a beautiful view outdoors, where individual green islands with concrete benches and a playground offer inviting places to relax.

The extensively glazed building not only provides a bright, natural atmosphere indoors, it is also open and inviting from the outside as well. The window frames are made from Swiss wood and metal. In order to ensure a pleasant indoor climate with optimal ventilation, the casements are hidden behind metal blinds, which allow for the temperature and brightness in the building to be regulated depending on the time of year. Thanks to natural ventilation, connection to the district heating network and photovoltaic panels on the roof, the Collège du Fey is also a model school when it comes to energy management.
