At home in nature

Laax, the famous Graubünden tourist resort, lies high above the Rhine gorge on a sunny terrace. In winter, LAAX, the huge ski resort, is a great place to enjoy the slopes. In summer, Flims-Laax-Falera is the ideal starting point for nature-bound excursions.
The apartment hotel Peaks Place was built on the edge of Laax village, in the Murschegt district. HRS Investment purchased the 12,108 sqm site and HRS Real Estate developed and implemented Peaks Place as the general contractor. Peaks Place consists of eight interconnected buildings with a total of 102 apartments, varying in size from 1.5 to 5.5 rooms. The apartments are dedicated to the themes of mountain, valley and meadow and are designed and implemented accordingly. All apartments benefit from the extensive infrastructure of Peaks Place. This includes, for example, a large spa area with a wide range of fitness and spa facilities, a lobby with a 24-hour reception and a The Peaks da Manuel Reichenbach restaurant. Guests thus enjoy the individuality of a holiday apartment with all the amenities of a 4-star hotel simultaneously. The new building convinces with its expressive architecture. The long, terraced building blends harmoniously into the landscape in a pleasantly modern habitus with an alpine character.

Challenged by the difference in altitude

The steep terrain posed a particular challenge to the general contractor. From the highest to the lowest point, the difference in level is as much as 20 metres. To secure the construction site, nail walls up to to 18 metres high were constructed. The access from the hotel reception to the eight buildings, which are staggered in height, is via an underground horizontal corridor, which was laid into the terrain with blazing and then securing by nail walls.

Sustainable energy concept

The subject of fire protection was an ongoing matter for the general contractor. Between approval and implementation, the standards changed, which meant that major adjustments had to be made. The apartment hotel Peaks Place has controlled residential ventilation and meets the current requirements for its sustainable energy supply. The thermal energy comes from its own CO2-neutral pellet heating system. A special parking lot was set up in front of the hotel for the delivery of pellets.
