Rosentalturm

The parking garage of the Messe Basel at Rosentalanlage will be replaced by a new building: a high-rise and a longitudinal building with residential and commercial uses, as well as an underground parking garage.

With the Rosentalturm, housing will be created for a broad target audience. The 410 rental apartments will offer a diverse mix of units ranging from 2.0 to 6.5 rooms, including communal living spaces. Around 80 of these apartments, with 3.5 to 5.5 rooms, are planned as affordable housing to ensure a broad social mix. The ground floor and the generously green inner courtyard of the Rosentalturm will be open to the public, where a neighborhood pavilion will invite visitors to linger. Approximately 1,700 square meters of commercial and gastronomy space will be created on the ground floor of the two buildings, dedicated to a variety of neighborhood-related services provided by local SMEs. This public space, with additional recreational offerings, will complement the Messequartier and contribute to the revitalization of the area sought by the Kleinbasel neighborhood and Messe Basel.

The project currently envisions between 600 and 750 parking spaces in an underground parking garage. These spaces will be available to the public and neighborhood residents as a public parking facility, outside of major events and ongoing fairs at the Messequartier.

With the construction of the Rosentalturm, Basel takes another step forward in its urban development. The project focuses not only on modern, ecological architecture but also on sustainable urban development.

An anonymous project competition ensured that the new development would proceed with a high-quality architectural and economically sound project according to a convincing urban master plan. The jury unanimously selected the "Rooseli" project by Herzog & de Meuron.

A SNBS-Gold certification according to the 2023.1 guidelines is being targeted.

The development, financing, and realization of the project are being carried out in cooperation between the MCH Group and HRS. The MCH Group as the leaseholder, HRS as the developer and general contractor, and the Canton of Basel-Stadt as the leaseholder and approval authority are working closely together to successfully realize the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026.
