Yesterday, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new headquarters of Gema took place on the Sommerau site in Gossau SG. From summer 2024, powder coating equipment and systems will be developed, assembled and shipped all over the world here.

HRS is project developer and total contractor for the building with a volume of 134'000 m³ and a floor area of 23'000m². 13'000m³ of concrete, 2'200 tons of steel for steel structure and reinforcement and 420 piles under floor slab will be installed. The latter is necessary due to the different geological stratifications and groundwater conditions in the area of the construction site.

The modern production plant will generate the required energy mainly by means of its own photovoltaics. In order to reduce emissions to a minimum, the building will be heated with geothermal energy from 28 ground probes.
